Nigeria's head coach, Eric Chelle, has expressed immense pride in his players following their convincing 2–0 victory over Algeria in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final on Saturday.

Second-half goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams ensured the Super Eagles saw off the Desert Foxes to book their place in the tournament’s semi-finals.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Chelle praised his team’s performance but stressed the need to remain focused.

“It was a great game. We played well to win this game, and I’m so proud of them,” Chelle said. “We work a lot and deserve this victory.”

However, the Malian tactician quickly shifted attention to the next hurdle.

“This is just one game. If you want to stay ambitious, you have to work again because we have a big game in a few days. We will continue to work,” he added.

Nigeria will now continue its quest for a fourth AFCON title when it faces host nation Morocco in the semi-final on Wednesday, January 14.

The other semi-final will see Senegal take on seven-time champions Egypt, promising another high-stakes encounter.
