Jesus is expected to travel to Spain as early as Monday to undergo a medical after receiving authorisation from Arsenal.
The 29-year-old will sign a two-year contract with an option to extend for a further year until 2029.
Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City for £45m in 2022, has scored 32 goals in 123 appearances for the Gunners but has struggled for consistent starts in recent seasons.
The move comes as Barcelona seek a natural centre-forward following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.
Hansi Flick’s side had been linked to Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, before being put off by the financial aspect of the deal.
The Jesus deal is being treated as a separate market opportunity and does not rule out future interest in Alvarez.
Jesus was also linked with Napoli, but he has given the green light to a move to Camp Nou, viewing it as an attractive opportunity. All parties are now working to finalise the finer details before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
