Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim stated what the content of his message to the fans will entail in their final home game of the season.
The Red Devils' 2024/25 Premier League campaign will come to a close against Aston Villa at Old Trafford, and the Portuguese tactician said the abysmal season they have had will not make him shy away from the traditional address to the fans.
An historic low
Manchester United have amassed 39 points in the Premier League so far, and they can only collect three more. The highest they can finish this season is 14th, and even that would be their worst ever in Premier League history.
It is also the worst league campaign for the Red Devils, stretching back to a period preceding the Premier League—their worst since the 1973/74 season.
What Amorim said
Asked what the content of his speech to the fans would be amid the reality of their terrible season, compounded by the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, he said, “It will be an apology. I think that's clear. I don't have time for an explanation. I will be honest with the fans and say what is in my mind and especially my heart.”
"It's tradition, and we have to face it. It will be the biggest mistake if we don't do that. I know that the manager addresses the public, and I will do that; it's the least I can do. I have an idea what I want to say, but I will decide tomorrow. If ever there was a season that we need to do it, it's this one.”
