Garnacho was a substitute for the match, with Mason Mount preferred to him. He came on in the 71st minute, and he was a constant threat for his duration on the pitch.

After the match, he shared his disappointment on social media, saying, “Until the final, I played every round helping the team… then the final arrives and I play 20 minutes?! I don’t know. The final, the season, the whole situation of the club… I will try to enjoy the summer and then we will see what happens.”

Asked what he thought about Garnacho’s comments, the Portuguese tactician said that the Argentine played the previous game and was wasteful.

Today, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that Amorim has told the former Atletico Madrid Academy star to leave the club. Amorim also reportedly confirmed to the players that he would be in charge next season, amid speculations of a possible sack.

After the defeat to Tottenham, the 36-year-old told reporters that he had no plans of resigning and would leave without compensation should the club determine he is surplus to requirements. His reported comments in the meeting with Manchester United players suggest that the board have communicated to him that his job is safe.
