Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino defends young striker Nicolas Jackson from criticism.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has come in defence of young striker Nicolas Jackson, calling for calm as the Senegal international is still young.

The 20-year-old striker joined the West London side this summer from Villarreal, and although he was brilliant in preseason, he has failed to carry on his form from the end of last season into this campaign.

What Pochettino said

The Senegalese star has only managed to score two league goals this season but has missed seven big chances, causing frustration among fans.

New boy Nicolas Jackson and other top Chelsea stars missed the game.

“Nico Jackson is young; he arrived this season. Circumstances didn’t help him perform at his best,” he said, per Fabrizio Romano.

“What can we do? Throw him in the bin and say he is useless? Come on, stop it. We need to give him confidence”.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea captain John Terry has revealed why he will never coach his beloved Premier League club in the future.

John Terry left Chelsea in 2017 after 22 years at the club, where he became the most successful player in their history, with five Premier League titles, the Champions League, and five FA Cups among his trophy haul.

This summer, Terry returned to Stamford Bridge to sign a one-year deal as a consultant in the Blues' academy, but despite working in the club’s setup, the 42-year-old believes he has no chance of managing the senior team.
