We must remain positive — Iwobi reacts after Chukwueze masterclass against Man City
Marco Silva’s side delivered a spirited, high-scoring performance and were unfortunate not to secure at least a point from the encounter. The comeback was sparked by Iwobi, who scored Fulham’s second goal early in the second half.
His compatriot, Samuel Chukwueze, then emerged from the bench to add two more goals for the Cottagers, but Manchester City ultimately held on for the maximum points.
Iwobi praises Fulham team spirit despite defeat
Iwobi admitted his disappointment but insisted the team must focus on the resilience shown.
“I feel disappointed because we didn’t get anything out of the fighting spirit that we showed, but I think we have to take the positivity from the game,” Iwobi told the club’s official website.
Fulham's next challenge is an away trip to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.
Meanwhile, both Iwobi and Chukwueze have been included in the 54-man preliminary list released by Super Eagles boss Eric Chelle for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Iwobi, a veteran of the Super Eagles, will be aiming to add to his current count of 91 caps during the AFCON tournament as he chases Nigeria's all-time appearance record.
