Other players on the fringes, including Paul Onuachu, Francis Uzoho, Raphael Onyedika, and Chidozie Awaziem, were also given opportunities to impress and push for a starting role.

Even with key players rested, Nigeria delivered its most commanding performance of the tournament, securing a 3-1 victory over the Cranes. The win was sealed by a first-half opener from Onuachu and a second-half brace from Onyedika.

Moses Simon himself has started just one match at the current AFCON, with former African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman often preferred by Chelle on the left wing.
