"We have shown that we have a strong and competent team," Conde stated.

"Against Cote d'Ivoire and Cameroon, we failed on the details, but now it's do-or-die. Nigeria are favourites, but let's face the game with humility, tranquillity, and a lot of responsibility.

"We've reached this stage with respect, and now we're going to show what we can do."

Mozambique advanced to the knockout phase after a difficult Group Stage campaign.

Their journey began with a tight loss to Côte d’Ivoire, followed by a landmark victory over Gabon, their first-ever win in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations. A narrow defeat to Cameroon in their final group match was enough to secure their spot in the Round of 16.

Their opponents, three-time African champions Nigeria, will look to extend their perfect record in the 2025 tournament when they meet on Monday.

The Super Eagles have won every match so far, solidifying their status as one of the top contenders for the title. Eric Chelle's men will look to go one step further than they did in the 2023 edition, where they reached the final before losing to Ivory Coast.
