Victor Boniface celebrates 21st goal as Leverkusen lift first-ever Bundesliga title
Three days after Bayer Leverkusen took to social media to hail striker Victor Boniface after he reached 20 goals, the Super Eagles star has extended that record in an impressive debut campaign in Germany.
The Nigerian forward, signed last summer from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, has enjoyed a brilliant first season with the Bundesliga leaders despite missing three months through injury.
Victor Boniface adds to Leverkusen stats
Of Boniface's 21-goal haul so far, 14 have come in the Bundesliga, with the other five struck in the Europa League as Leverkusen remain on course for a historic treble.
The latest strike from the 23-year-old came in the final game of the Bundesliga season as Leverkusen defeated Augsburg to complete an unbeaten season.
Boniface opened the scoring as early as the 12th minute thanks to fellow African and Morocco's Amine Adli's incredible selflessness.
Celebrating the 23-year-old's impact, the club posted across their channels:
"20 goals in his first season."
Boniface has been a revelation since joining Leverkusen, winning the Bundesliga's Rookie of the Month award four times between August and November.
His red-hot form in front of goal also helped to fire Leverkusen to their first-ever Bundesliga title, while they also have the DFB Cup and Europa League finals to look forward to.

He was recently named the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season, a reward for what has been an outstanding debut season in Germany.
Next season would see Boniface test himself in the grandest stage of his career so far, the UEFA Champions League after Leverkusen's dream campaign concluded with the Bundesliga triumph.
