Victor Boniface: A recap of the Nigerian sensation's stats at Bayer Leverkusen

Since making the move to Bayer Leverkusen last summer, Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has become an icon for the fans in the Bundesliga with his impressive performances and goal-scoring exploits.

The 23-year-old joined the German club from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise and has wasted little time in adapting to the rigours of top-flight European football at the BayArena.

In just 31 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen, Boniface has already racked up an eye-catching tally of 19 goals and nine assists.

Breaking the numbers further down, 12 of those goals have come in the Bundesliga, where he's recorded a total of 1421 minutes. 

He's also chipped in with nine assists in the league, ninth most in the Bundesliga, showcasing his ability to not only find the back of the net but also create chances for his teammates.

Boniface's impressive goal-scoring form has been a key factor in Leverkusen's recent resurgence and incredible run to the historic Bundesliga title under Xabi Alonso. 

The Nigerian's clinical finishing and intelligent movement have caused all sorts of problems for opposing defenses.

What's perhaps most impressive about Boniface's stats is the fact that he's achieved this level of productivity despite missing three months due to injuries. 

Of his 21 appearances, 16 have been as a starter, highlighting his importance and five others off the bench.

Off the ball, the talented Super Eagles star has also been as important to Alonso, winning 161 tackles, and 31 aerial duels, while covering a distance of 154.1km according to Bundesliga records.

In the Europa League, Boniface also played a pivotal role with five goals and one assist in seven matches to fire Bayer Leverkusen to the semifinals.

With his combination of pace, power, and technical ability, Boniface has all the attributes to become a true star in the Bundesliga. 

If the Super Eagles forward can maintain this level of performance, there's no doubt that the young Nigerian will continue to attract attention from some of Europe's top clubs.

Bayer Leverkusen will be hoping they can hold onto their prized asset, as Boniface's goals and overall ability have made him one of the most in-demand forward in Europe.
