Victor Boniface was on the scoresheet once more as rampant Bayer Leverkusen extended their remarkable unbeaten run to 50 matches with a 5-0 demolition of Bochum.

The Nigerian striker coolly dispatched a first-half penalty to make it 2-0, as Leverkusen's free-scoring attack proved too hot to handle yet again on Sunday evening.

It was Boniface's 13th Bundesliga goal of an outstanding campaign for the 22-year-old following his summer move from Belgium.

There were five different scorers in total as the champions ran riot at the Ruhrstadion to back up last week's 5-1 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Patrick Schick opened the scoring before Boniface's spot-kick, with Amine Adli, Josip Stanisic and Alejandro Grimaldo all netting after the break.

The victory maintains Leverkusen's stunning unbeaten streak that kicked off with that 8-0 win against Teutonia in the DFB Pokal back in August 2023.

Since then, Xabi Alonso's side have gone 50 matches without tasting defeat in an astonishing run of consistency and firepower.

With a front four of Schick, Boniface, Adli and Nathan Tella, who played alongside compatriot Boniface, goals have been flowing freely all season for the Bundesliga champions.

Boniface in particular has proved a revelation following his £20 million move from Union Saint-Gilliose, scoring 20 goals in all competitions.

His inch-perfect penalty technique has also seen him net four times from the spot in his debut German top-flight campaign.

The Nigerian's composure in front of goal have made him one of the signings of the season across Europe.

If he can maintain his scoring exploits, Leverkusen's incredible unbeaten charge shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.
