Turkish champions celebrate Osimhen despite Galatasaray coach saying they worry when he plays for Nigeria
Galatasaray have congratulated Victor Osimhen for his incredible performance against the Benin Republic, scoring a hat-trick to help Nigeria to a 4-0 win to qualify for the World Cup playoffs.
Fans of the Turkish champions have worried about Osimhen's fitness when he is away on duty for the Super Eagles. Galatasaray's coach, Okan Buruk, echoed similar sentiments in a recent interview. However, all of that was put aside following the Nigerian’s heroics and the celebration followed.
Galatasaray celebrate Osimhen
Going into the clash against the Benin Republic, the Super Eagles knew they needed to score four goals to keep their World Cup dreams alive, especially if South Africa beat Rwanda.
Victor Osimhen took to the task personally, scoring a hat-trick from two headers and a well-placed strike. Frank Onyeka scored the final goal.
“We celebrate Victor Osimhen, who scored a hat-trick with 3 goals against Benin in the CAF Qualifiers for Group C of the 2026 World Cup and made a significant contribution to his country, Nigeria, qualifying for the play-off. Congratulations, Victor Osimhen,” they shared on X.
What Okan Buruk said
The performance against the Benin Republic and the subsequent celebration from Galatasaray and their fans came after Buruk made some interesting comments about Victor Osimhen's national duty.
Given the Nigerian's recent injuries when playing for the Super Eagles, Buruk spoke candidly, stating that they worry whenever Osimhen plays for Nigeria.
