Manchester City defeated Wolves 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening, but the game was marred by controversy surrounding the officiating.

There was frustration after a 33rd-minute incident where Omar Marmoush flicked the ball against Yerson Mosquera’s arm.

Despite VAR official Jarred Gillett recommending an on-field review, debutant referee Farai Hallam became a rarity in the Premier League by sticking to his original "no penalty" decision, ruling the arm was in a natural position

Guardiola calls out Howard Webb after VAR controversy

In his post-match press conference, Guardiola suggested that Webb is becoming a regular fixture in the media to justify controversial decisions against City.

“The referee made his debut, now everybody will know him. I’m pretty sure Howard Webb tomorrow is going to appear in the media to explain why it’s not a penalty,” Guardiola quipped.

“I’m waiting. Howard Webb, come tomorrow and explain. Don’t wait until Wednesday, we have Champions League, we are busy.”

Guardiola’s anger wasn't just about the Wolves game. He remains incensed by Webb’s recent public backing of the decision not to send off Diogo Dalot for a high challenge on Jeremy Doku during last week's Manchester Derby.

Guardiola linked that decision directly to City's midweek Champions League loss, noting: “That’s why Jeremy could not play in Norway [against Bodo/Glimt]—for the action from Dalot. But it’s okay... I would love to have the players to fight against that.”
