Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma started 2025 with a potential life-changing transfer but one year later, he seems to be on the downward spiral.

Ouma is currently frozen out of the team after being dropped from the senior side at Polish giants Lech Pozan and excluded from the club’s training camp in Abu Dhabi for disciplinary reasons.

The young midfielder sealed a transfer worth around Ksh473 million from Swedish side Elfsborg to Czech giants Slavia Prague in January 2025 and this was seen as the next big step in his young football career.

However, Ouma endured a frustrating four months in Prague and at the end of the season, a decision was made to loan him out to Lech Poznan.

Delayed Returns After International Duty

But before his departure, Ouma had delayed his return back to his club in March after international duty, an issue that raised eyebrows in Kenya and in the Czech Republic.

However, he later claimed that he had stayed behind to acquire key documents which were needed for him to be formally registered by Slavia Prague.

Ouma seemed to be enjoying a new lease of life at Lech Poznan, where he quickly became an integral member of the squad, as he played regularly in domestic competitions as well as the Europe Conference League.

However, in November 2025, Ouma delayed his return to club duties again after international commitments when he did not go back in time after Harambee Stars matches against Equatorial Guinea and Senegal, both which he did not play.

Why Has Timothy Ouma Been Demoted?

"Timothy Ouma has still not returned to our country, and worst of all, it’s unclear when he’ll arrive in Poznań," a Polish outlet reported at the time.

"The footballer presented a credible-sounding story to the sporting director and coach, claiming he was supposed to be dealing with 'his business' in Kenya. He is scheduled to arrive in Poznan next week, but his exact arrival date remains unknown."

All has been well since that time but nearly two months later, Ouma finds himself in trouble. The player has been banished from the first team, alongside two other players, for reportedly missing an introductory meeting and medical tests.

This is because the midfielder, who spent the festive season in Kenya, arrived late yet again, with his reason being a flight delay "due to the weather.”

Uncertain Future for Kenyan Midfielder

Poznan has not indicated when or if Ouma will be recalled but it looks like he has a slim chance of staying at the club beyond this season after he was signed on loan with a view to impressing and making the deal permanent.

Now, with his loan deal set to expire on June 30, the former Nairobi City Stars midfielder is at a crossroads. The manner Slavia Prague treated him when he signed raised concerns over how they view him while Poznan look not to be happy with his disciplinary issues.

Ouma therefore could find himself moving again and with his off-field issues, top clubs might look to avoid him, seeing a career that promised so much and is still at its infancy, get wasted so early.
