BGernot Rohr has tipped Nigeria to overcome DR Congo in their crucial World Cup playoff final but has cautioned that the Leopards possess the tools to cause an upset.
Ahead of Sunday's decisive clash in Rabat, Rohr believes Nigeria's overall quality will see them through. However, he highlighted the specific dangers posed by the Congolese side.
Will Nigeria defeat DR Congo?
"Of course, Nigeria is the favourite, but they must be careful," Rohr stated, according to The Nation.
"Congo has a physically strong team and are dangerous on set pieces, like they showed against Cameroon, with good physical and mental strength."
Despite his warning, the German tactician remains confident in the Super Eagles' collective ability. "It will be an interesting game, but I think Nigeria will go through because they have better qualities collectively," he added.
The match in Rabat represents the final hurdle in this stage of African qualification, with the winner securing the continent's sole spot in the intercontinental playoff in March 2026. For Nigeria, a victory is essential to keep their World Cup aspirations alive.
Chelle's men enter this clash in fine form, having won five of their last six games, and there is optimism that the Super Eagles can carry on that excellent form.
