Close your legs — Tella embarrasses Boniface in Bayer Leverkusen training
Former Southampton winger Nathan Tella has shown a glimpse of what to expect from him following his move to Bayer Leverkusen.
Tella has impressed in his first training sessions at the club after he joined the Bundesliga side from Championship club Southampton earlier this week.
His new teammate and fellow Nigerian, Victor Boniface, found himself at the wrong end of Tella’s brilliance in training.
Tella to Bayer
Real Madrid legend Xabi Alonso strengthened his attack at Bayer Leverkusen following the addition of the versatile forward from relegated Saints.
Leverkusen confirmed Tella’s arrival through a short statement as reported by Pulse Sports on Sunday morning.
Tella, who was born in England but is still eligible for the Nigeria Super Eagles, put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
He will join the Werkself until the summer of 2028 in a deal that has cost the Bundesliga club around 20 million pounds.
Tella nutmegs Boniface
The talented winger has since started training with his new club and teammates ahead of a potential debut this weekend.
During one of the training sessions, the 24-year-old showed his collection of tricks when he nutmegged compatriot Boniface.
Bayer shared a GIF of the funny moment on their official X.com, formerly Twitter, account, with both Nigerians enjoying the instant.
The club shared the nutmeg with a caption that reads “Close those legs, Victor,” on Friday afternoon.
It was a glimpse of what Tella could bring to Werkself and his manager, Xabi Alonso, and the fans can’t wait to see him repeat it on the pitch.
Tella could make his debut on Saturday when Leverkusen host SV Darmstadt at the BayArena at 2:30 pm Nigerian time.
