BoniBrace! Victor Boniface 'excited' after cooking West Ham to score on Bayer debut
Nigerian striker Victor Boniface is a happy man at the moment following a positive debut for Bayer Leverkusen.
Boniface showed Bayer what to expect from him in the Bundesliga next season after helping his new club to an emphatic win over West Ham United.
Bayer thrashed the Hammers 4-0, with summer signing Boniface amongst the scorers.
Boniface off the mark
A comprehensive first half performance saw Xabi Alonso’s men dominate and thrash David Moyes’ Hammers at the Bay Arena.
Nigeria’s Boniface, who recently joined the club from Union Saint-Gilloise, proved to be too hot for the Hammers to handle.
Jonas Hofmann opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Boniface doubled the advantage in the 23rd minute.
The goal was his first for the club on his debut but it was later counted as a Thilo Kehrer own goal.
With the half time approaching, there would be no stopping the 22-year-old this time as he made it 3-0 with a calm finish.
In the second half, the rout was completed when Boniface forced a penalty which was easily dispatched by Robert Andrich to seal the heavy win.
Boniface is excited to score
After the game, the forward sent a message to the fans to express his excitement with his performance on his debut.
“Hello fans, I am excited about the goals today and the game today with the massive support,” he said in a video from the club’s social media.
“I can’t wait to see you guys in the league,” he added.
