Rio Ferdinand claims Mbeumo desperate to join Man Utd after second bid rejected
Rio Ferdinand has explained why he believes Bryan Mbeumo’s transfer to Manchester United is nearly finalized.
Following the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, United are pushing to secure Mbeumo, and have now seen two bids turned down for the Cameroon international.
Mbeumo had an outstanding 2024/25 season, scoring 20 Premier League goals and providing seven assists.

The Red Devils are weighing up whether to return with a third bid, with optimism growing for a deal.
On his podcast, Rio Ferdinand Presents, Ferdinand shared his thoughts on United’s transfer activity. “I’m happy with Cunha, he’s one of the ones I mentioned on my list. I hope it goes well for him,” he said.
“The problem is that I’ve been happy many times in transfer windows and it’s gone wrong. I’m hoping he’s not going to be added to that list.
“If they get Mbeumo, I’d be very happy.”When asked why Mbeumo’s move is considered a done deal, Ferdinand replied, “Because he wants to come. Mbeumo wants to come, I know it.
“His stats over the last three seasons in the Premier League are up there, by the way. Goals and assists, goal chances, ridiculous.
“Again, another proven Premier League player. This is what I like, played in the Premier League.
There ain’t no adjustment business. The only thing is that there will be an adjustment because of the size of the club.”
