The match began with Justin Kluivert opening the scoring in the ninth minute, firing a shot into the bottom corner after a swift counter-attack. 

Despite Nottingham Forest's attempts to equalise, including a close volley from Ryan Yates that was saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga, Bournemouth maintained control of the game.
