Arokodare on fire! Super Eagles star reaches five goal contributions in five games for Ajax after UECL brace

Tolu Arokodare is rapidly becoming one of Ajax’s most exciting attacking options after another explosive performance in European competition.

The Nigerian striker scored twice against FC Sion as Ajax secured a 5-3 victory and progressed to the main phase of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Making his first start for Ajax in the Conference League qualifying campaign, Arokodare wasted little time announcing himself on the European stage.

The 25-year-old opened his account in the 45th minute, finding the net just before half-time to give Ajax momentum heading into the break. He struck again six minutes after the restart, restoring his side’s lead and completing a memorable individual display.

Ajax eventually claimed a thrilling 5-3 victory, sealing a 9-5 aggregate triumph over Sion and securing their place in the competition’s main phase.

For Arokodare, the performance provided another indication that he could become an important figure in Amsterdam.

The Nigerian has made an immediate impact since arriving at Ajax following a difficult spell at Wolves, registering involvement in five official goals in his first few appearances for the Dutch giants.

His contribution includes an assist on his debut against Zwolle, followed by a goal and assist in the first leg against Sion before his latest two-goal heroics in the return fixture.

That means Arokodare has already contributed five goals or assists across his opening five games, giving Ajax plenty of reason to be excited about their new attacking weapon. His physical presence, finishing ability and willingness to attack the penalty area could prove valuable as the campaign develops.

Arokodare arrived in Amsterdam looking to rebuild his reputation, but his blistering start suggests Ajax may have found a striker ready to make a serious impact. The challenge now is simple: maintain the momentum.
