Nothing for Yamal, Dembele — Brazil icon Marcelo picks Ballon d'Or winner
Real Madrid legend Marcelo recently shared his pick for the 2025 Ballon d’Or during a post-match interview following a charity game between Real Madrid Legends and Borussia Dortmund Legends.
The match, which ended in an entertaining 3-3 draw, saw Marcelo reflect on his choice for football’s most prestigious individual award.
When asked who should win the Ballon d’Or, Marcelo didn’t hesitate, stating, “Cristiano Ronaldo,” as reported by Madrid Zone.

The Brazilian’s response raised eyebrows, given that Ronaldo, despite his fine form, isn’t even considered in the running for the 2025 award.
The Portuguese star, now 40, led the Saudi Pro League in scoring last season with 25 goals for Al-Nassr and scored in the final of the UEFA Nations League, helping Portugal defeat Spain and win the trophy.
However, his chances for the Ballon d’Or are slim compared to other contenders.
Current favorites for the 2025 Ballon d’Or include Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, who has taken La Liga and the world by storm, and Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele, who led PSG to the treble over the past season.
Ronaldo himself recently commented on the Ballon d’Or, suggesting that the award should go to a player from the team that wins the UEFA Champions League, ruling himself out of the equation.
The Portuguese legend has won the award five times, only second to great rival Lionel Messi, who has picked up the prestigious honour on eight occasions.
The winner of the Ballon d'Or will be revealed in September 2025.
