Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed that he will not travel to the US with the squad for the inaugural Club World Cup.

The 33-year-old's current contract expires on June 30, and he is unlikely to sign a short-term deal to participate in the tournament.

In 10 seasons with Manchester City, Kevin De Bruyne has played 420 games, scoring 108 goals and assisting 177.

De Bruyne expressed his concerns about playing in the Club World Cup, citing the risk of injury and the timing of the tournament.

The Belgian has mentioned the possibility of staying in England, citing his family's settled life in the UK.

"It doesn’t make any sense, but I think that happens when you push in new tournaments into the middle of this contract situation.

"It’s going to be weird. I’m going to try and enjoy it," he said.

"In a way, I have to take care of myself because if I get injured in the Club World Cup, what am I going to do? Nobody’s going to take care of me at that point."

The Belgian midfielder has yet to decide on his next club, with links to the MLS and other Premier League teams.
