Manchester United plot ₦19 billion move for Wilfred Ndidi
Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, as they view the release clause from Leicester City as a unique market opportunity.
The 28-year-old witnessed a second relegation in his Leicester career last season and, according to reports, has a £9 million release clause worked into his 2024 contract renewal, triggerable should the Foxes suffer the drop.
Manchester United interested
The 2015/16 Premier League champions went back down immediately after gaining promotion, and Ndidi is believed to now be available at a cut price.
According to Talk Sport’s Alex Crook, Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in Ndidi, an interest they have held for a while. It is believed that his current low release clause makes him particularly attractive given the Red Devils' strenuous finances.
The Nigerian also has interest from Everton, according to the reports. David Moyes' side staved off the drop last campaign and will be looking to strengthen their squad for next season.
They are one of the clubs in the Premier League in a precarious financial situation, given their ownership problems and new stadium investment. Ndidi’s talent, especially at such an affordable price, has placed him on their radar.
