Maduka Okoye: Forgotten Super Eagles goalkeeper 'happy' to join Udinese
Nigeria international Maduka Okoye is set to revive his career after a quiet and difficult time in England.
Okoye has become the latest Nigerian to join the Italian league, Serie A, following his transfer to Udinese Calcio.
The goalkeeper has swapped Championship life with Watford to the Serie A in a bid to revive his career.
Okoye’s move to Udinese
The 23-year-old’s move to Calcio was confirmed by the club on Thursday as reported by Pulse Sports.
Okoye penned a four-year contract to will ensure he defends the Juventus colour until the summer of 2027.
The transfer of the forgotten Super Eagles' former number one goalkeeper brings to an end what has been a torrid time at Watford.
Okoye, who is considered to be the most handsome Super Eagles player at the moment, found game time difficult to come by following his return on loan from Sparta Rotterham last summer.
Despite a supern showing at the Eredivisie club, the talented goalkeeper only managed just two appearances in his time with the English outfit.
However, the move to Udinese gives the German-born shot-stopper the chance to revive what looked like a promising career while in the Eredivisie.
He becomes the latest Nigeria in the Serie A, having joined Victor Osimhen of Napoli, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, and Samuel Chukwueze, who recently joined giants AC Milan.
Okoye happy with transfer
After putting pen to paper at his new club, the goalkeeper sent a message to fans of club.
In the message posted on the club’s Instagram story, Okoye expressed his happiness with the move and can’t wait to get on with his new side.
“Hello Udinese fans, i am very happy to be here,” Okoye said in the video.
“I can’t wait to see you guys,” he added.
