Juventus and Italy legend Giorgio Chiellini retires from football
Italian great, and 2021 European Championships winner Giorgio Chiellini has chosen to call time on his illustrious career after 23 years of active football.
Chiellini announces retirement
Chiellini announced his retirement from football on social media with a touching video tribute to his career, highlighting the best parts, from Livorno to Juventus, LAFC, and the Italian national team.
Speaking through his X account, Chiellini said a heartfelt goodbye to football, saying, “You have been the most beautiful and intense journey of my life. You have been my everything. With you, I have travelled a unique and unforgettable path.

Chiellini’s career in brief
During his career, Chiellini played for Livorno, Fiorentina, Juventus, and LAFC, amassing 716 official matches and 44 goals in club football.
He won numerous titles as a player, especially with Juventus, where he was a mainstay in a side that won nine Serie A titles in a row and five Copa Italia trophies.
With the national team, Chiellini made 117 appearances and retired as the joint-fifth most-capped player in Azzurri history.
Chiellini also capped his international career by lifting the 2022 European Championship trophy in his last official tournament with the national team.
