Joana Sanz: Estranged wife of Dani Alves pens emotional message to imprisoned Brazilian footballer on 40th birthday amid divorce claims

Dani Alves will no doubt be celebrating one of the weirdest birthdays of his life. 

The Brazilian footballer, who turned 40 on Saturday, May 6, is currently still in temporary detention at the Brians II penitentiary center.

Since Alves’ arrest on December 30, 2022, he has been sent to prison over allegations of rape against a young woman in a Sutton nightclub in Barcelona. 

Alves who has been actively seeking his release on bail via his legal team led by Cristobal Martel has also seen his marriage crash after the allegations.

Alves’ wife Joana Sanz confirmed she is indeed pushing for a divorce from the former Barcelona defender and has also taken steps to distance herself from the imprisoned footballer.

However, Dani Alves’ 40th birthday did not go unnoticed by his former partner Joana Sanz, who had taken to her social media account to congratulate the former Pumas player as he added a new year to his age.

To the surprise of many, the Spanish model who has also deleted most of the pictures of her and the player from her social media pages penned an emotional note which she shared on her Instagram story.

Posting a photo of the footballer, she captioned the picture with a message that read: 

Having expressed regret over Alves’s mistake that led to the end of their relationship, Sanz also added that despite her desire to separate legally from the Brazil defender, she will keep supporting him until the truth surrounding the rape case is brought to light.

'I'm still here and I will continue always, in a different way but present. #unconditionallove.’ she concluded.

Pulse Sports previously reported that the estranged wife of Dani Alves, Joana Sanz recently took to her Instagram page to reveal details of the divorce through her Instagram stories.

According to her, Alves is refusing to sign the divorce papers and end their relationship.

Joana Sanz also further dispelled reports that she was still benefitting financially from the imprisoned footballer.

 "No, I am not receiving any money, I don't understand the need for making up news" she said.

Pulse Sports previously reported that Dani Alves was arrested for alleged sexual assault on a 23-year-old lady at a Barcelona nightclub.

Alves was taken into custody after the allegation was made against him on December 30, 2022. 

He was then taken to the Ciutat de la Justicia, where he attended a court hearing. 

He was sent to jail by the court without bail, while an investigation continues on the case.

Should Alves be found guilty of the rape charges, the former Pumas defender could face a sentence of between eight to 10 years in prison.

The news of Alves involvement in the sexual harrasment case has also seen his wife publicly declare her separation from the former PSG star.
