‘I think Konsa is that good’ - Chelsea legend Terry claims Saliba has lost his place to Arsenal’s new signing

Konsa recently completed a £55 million transfer from Aston Villa to the reigning Premier League champions, signing a four-year deal at the Emirates Stadium. 

The move comes as Arsenal look to strengthen their squad while Saliba faces an "extended period" on the sidelines due to an injury aggravated at the World Cup.

The transfer is particularly timely for Arsenal, with Saliba's recovery potentially keeping him out of action until the winter of 2026.

Speaking on the FC Bullard TikTok channel, Terry, who worked with Konsa as an assistant coach at Aston Villa, praised the defender's abilities. 

"I would go for Konsa for Arsenal. That’s a massive signing," Terry stated. "I think even when Saliba is back fit, he doesn’t get back in the Arsenal team. I think Konsa is that good."

"I worked with him at Aston Villa, and he’s so aggressive but also happy to play on the halfway line because if it goes in behind, he’s quick enough to get there and recover. He’s a really, really good player," he added.

While Konsa was not available for Arsenal's season-opening 3-0 victory over newly-promoted Coventry City, he could make his debut against his former club, Aston Villa, next Monday. 

The Gunners began their title defence strongly, with goals from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Odegaard securing the win.
