The 27-year-old was frozen out of the Red Devils first team for multiple game weeks, leading to suggestions that the end of the road was near for the Carrington graduate. After an interview in which the striker himself left the door open to leaving his boyhood club, multiple clubs swung into action in a bid to land his signature.

Milan are one such club linked with a winter transfer window move for Rashford. The Rossoneri are keen on bolstering their offensive ranks and have been previously linked with Super Eagles' Victor Osimhen.

With the availability of Rashford, they are said to have initiated contacts and even liaised with his representatives. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, an operating partner at Redbird, the principal owner of Milan, spoke on their interest today.

As Fabrizio Romano reported, the retired striker emphasised the appeal of the Rossoneri and confirmed they were weighing up a possible move but stated that the deal will not be an easy one to complete. “I know Marcus well; we used to play together,” Zlatan said.

“AC Milan is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and all players want to be here.“It’s not an easy deal with Man United… We will see whether we decide to open talks or not.”
