‘I am sure’ — Brazil legend Roberto Carlos wastes no time in picking Ballon d’Or winner

Former Real Madrid and Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos believes there is already a clear favourite for this year's Ballon d'Or.

The 30-man nominees were announced last month, featuring an impressive array of talent, including Nigeria's Ademola Lookman, Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham, and Manchester City's Rodri as favourites.

However, Carlos is confident Vinicius Jr. will take home the coveted award without much trouble.

Real Madrid's incredible 2023-24 season has earned them a strong presence on the shortlist with seven Los Blancos players including Vinicius Jr., Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, and Dani Carvajal in the running.

Speaking after the Madrid derby, Carlos said (via MadridUniversal):

 “Vini is super calm. He knows he is very close to being the best in the world.

“He played some great games last season and this year we are trying to make him more relaxed with the crowds and the Ballon d’Or is there.

"I am very sure he’s going to win it.”

The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner will be announced in October.
