‘He’s like Cristiano Ronaldo’ — Napoli boss hypes Victor Osimhen

Napoli manager Rudi Garcia has compared Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to legendary Portuguese goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the 2023/24 Serie A season.

Garcia, who took over from Scudetto-winning manager Luciano Spalletti after the 2022/23 season, has only worked with Osimhen over the summer, but he already has several good things to say about the Super Eagles forward.

Speaking ahead of his Napoli debut in Serie A, Garcia spoke glowingly about Osimhen, saying, “Osimhen is a leader, he always wants to win and drag the team.

“He’s a bit like Cristiano Ronaldo. When he wins, he is super happy. He calls his teammates to take pictures, and I like him.

The Portuguese manager also noted other positives about Osimhen aside from his character, praising him for his work ethic and willingness to sacrifice for the team.

He is one of the best in the world,” Garcia said, adding, “He could only attack, but he also helps the team defensively, he presses opponents, and it’s so good for the team. This is part of the group’s qualities.”

Garcia will lead Napoli out for the first game of the 2023/24 season against newly promoted Frosinone, with Osimhen set to pick up from where he left off last season.
