He highlighted the striker’s effort and positive influence despite the disappointing result.

Chelsea dominated the first half at Molineux, racing into a commanding lead inspired by a hat-trick from Cole Palmer. Wolves struggled to contain the hosts’ attacking intensity before the break.

Arokodare provided a moment of encouragement for the visitors in the 54th minute, reacting sharply inside the box to slot home after Chelsea failed to clear a dangerous cross fully. The goal reduced the deficit to 3-1 and briefly lifted Wolves’ hopes of a comeback.

What Edwards said

Speaking after the match, Edwards acknowledged the challenges his side is facing as they attempt to rebuild and remain competitive in the Premier League.

“We’re trying to change things and move forward in the hardest league in the world,” the Wolves boss said.

He added, “We’ve had a busy window with a number of players leaving, but the new lads who have come in gave us a lot today.”

The manager reserved special praise for Arokodare, commending both his work rate and overall contribution.

He said, “Like all of us, he’s trying to improve and keep pushing. It’s great for him. He worked extremely hard for the team and did a lot of really good things out there.”

The strike against Chelsea marked Arokodare’s second Premier League goal of the season in 20 appearances. His first came earlier in the campaign during Wolves’ defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
