The Super Eagles striker kept his red-hot season going and showed once again why Nigerian forwards are making serious noise in Turkish football.

Derby dominance seals historic milestone

Onuachu opened the scoring in the first half, rising highest to head home a pinpoint delivery from Ernest Muçi and set the tone early for Trabzonspor at the 19 Mayıs Stadium.

With the game already leaning heavily in the visitors’ favour, the Nigerian striker stepped up again late on, calmly finishing after being set up by Okay Yokuşlu to wrap up his brace in the final nine minutes.

Muçi later added a stoppage-time penalty to complete the 3-0 scoreline, but the night firmly belonged to Onuachu.

The Super Eagles star’s goals took him to 16 in just 20 appearances across all competitions since arriving from Southampton in the summer, underlining how quickly he has become a central figure for the Claret-Blues.

His consistency in front of goal has given Trabzonspor a serious attacking edge as they continue pushing toward the top of the table.

Following Osimhen’s path in Turkish football

The brace also carried historic weight. Onuachu became the first foreign player in Trabzonspor history to score in both derby league meetings against Samsunspor in the same Süper Lig season.

He had already found the net in the reverse fixture back in August 2025, and this latest performance completed a rare achievement that places him firmly in the club’s modern story.

With Trabzonspor now third in the table on 45 points from 21 matches, the title race remains wide open. The Black Sea Storm sit just one point behind Fenerbahçe and four behind leaders Galatasaray.

Much like Victor Osimhen has done at Galatasaray with record-breaking numbers, Onuachu looks determined to create his own legacy in Turkey while carrying Nigerian striking excellence onto another big stage.
