Former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison has questioned Tolu Arokodare’s finishing after the Nigerian forward missed a clear-cut chance in Wolves’ 2–0 defeat to Bournemouth.

The Super Eagles striker came under fire following a frustrating evening at Molineux that summed up his difficult debut Premier League season.

Missed chance draws sharp criticism from Morrison

Arokodare was handed a golden opportunity to bring Wolves back into the contest in the 64th minute, with his side already trailing after Eli Junior Kroupi’s first-half opener.

The 25-year-old showed good physicality and movement to get goal-side of Marcos Senesi and meet Hugo Bueno’s delivery, but his side-footed effort was poorly placed and blocked by Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from close range.

Commentating on the game for Sky Sports, Morrison was unimpressed by the finish, saying, “Straight at Petrovic, Arokodare should do better. He should score but that’s how Wolves have been this season.” Bournemouth later sealed the win through Alex Scott, leaving Wolves to reflect on another missed opportunity.

Arokodare's struggles continue after prolific spell in Belgium

Arokodare’s difficulties in front of goal have been a stark contrast to the form that earned him a move from Racing Genk last summer.

In Belgium, the Nigerian forward was prolific, scoring 21 league goals during the 2024/2025 season and establishing himself as one of the standout attackers in the league.

That sharpness has not translated to England so far. Despite featuring regularly and playing the full 90 minutes against Bournemouth, Arokodare has managed just one goal in 20 Premier League appearances.

As Wolves continue to search for consistency, the pressure is growing on the Super Eagles forward to rediscover the finishing touch that once made him so feared in front of goal.
