The Nigerian international has joined the Primeira Liga giants from OGC Nice on a season-long loan, which includes an option for a permanent transfer.

The move reunites Moffi with head coach Francesco Farioli, under whom he enjoyed his most prolific spell during their time together at the French club.

Peseiro, who had a brief stint managing Porto in 2016 and worked closely with Moffi during his tenure with the Super Eagles, believes the forward has all the necessary attributes to thrive in Portugal.

Peseiro speaks on Moffi’s transfer

Peseiro is confident that Moffi's prior relationship with Farioli will be crucial for a smooth transition.

"If Farioli knows him and wants to sign him, it’s because he understands that Moffi has the ability and quality for his style of play," Peseiro explained to OneFootball.

He added, "He is perfectly adapted to European football. He is a player with the ability to adapt and with the quality to play in Portugal."

Instead of drawing comparisons with Porto's existing forwards, Peseiro highlighted the specific qualities Moffi will bring to the team.

Peseiro also commended Moffi's intelligent movement and passing. "He has the ability to link up play, not only through direct support but also with through passes behind the opponent’s defensive line," he noted.

While Moffi earned his first cap under Gernot Rohr in 2021, he became a key figure for Nigeria under Peseiro.

The striker scored all four of his international goals in 13 appearances under the Portuguese coach and was part of the squad that secured a runner-up finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
