What is a treble?
Winning the treble in football terms simply means winning three trophies at the end of the season. However for a team to win a continental treble, they must win a domestic double and a European trophy as well.
Generally speaking, a team is said to have won the continental treble when they win their domestic league title, main domestic cup competition, and main continental competition.
In history there have only been 8 teams to achieve this historic feat, 7 before Manchester City's hard-fought win against Inter Milan put them in illustrious company.
How many teams have won the continental treble
Winning the treble is extremely difficult which explains why only a handful of teams have ever achieved the feat.
