FIFA U20WC: Nigeria's Flying Eagles to face South Korea in the quarterfinals

Nigeria’s under-20 national team the Flying Eagles will continue their journey at the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup with another difficult game in the quarterfinal. 

The Flying Eagles will face another familiar foe in South Korea who booked their ticket to the last eight after a five-goal thriller against South American Ecuador. 

Bar Junho was the star of the day for the Koreans as they booked a quarterfinal date with Nigeria following a thrilling 3-2 win over Ecuador.

The Flying Eagles already booked their spot in the second round of the knockout stage courtesy of an outstanding display against host nation Argentina. 

Nigeria’s Eagles proved just too good for Javier Mascherano and his boys after a brilliant 2-0 win on Wednesday night. 

A memorable second half display inspired by goals from Ibrahim Muhammad and Rilwanu Sarki propelled the Ladan Bosso-managed side to not just a famous victory but also the quarterfinal of the FIFA U20 World Cup. 

Nigeria will now face another tricky and familiar opponent in Korea, who were inspired by a goal and assist star against Ecuador, Junho. 

It will be the third meeting between Nigeria’s Flying Eagles and their counterparts from Korea at the FIFA World Cup.
