Boniface played another decisive role to inspire his club to another impressive result, this time in the Belgian Pro League as they defeated Genk 2-1 away from home.

His latest performance comes after the 22-year-old was named the Europa League player of the week following an excellent display in Germany for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Boniface scored a brace, including a goal of the week and season contender, to help Royale Union Saint-Gilloise to a 3-3 at Union Berlin in their Europa League round of 16 first-leg encounter on Thursday.

Boniface has scored seven goals and assisted five in the league this season for Union.

The performance and goals saw the prospective Super Eagles forward take his tally to five goals in six starts for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League this season.

Boniface stars for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise again

After the player of the week display against Union Berlin in Germany mid-week, Boniface was at it again in the Belgian Pro League, Jupiler, for his club on Sunday.

He was caged and stopped from adding to his seven goals this season in the Belgian Pro League but the talented switched on to his playmaking side instead.

Boniface picked up his fifth assist of the season after setting up fellow Africa and Ivory Coast midfielder, Simon Adingra to score the winner at Genk.

The Nigerian forward, who was on the pitch for 84 minutes before he was subbed off, created two chances, one of which led to the winner in the 2-1 win.

He also made one key pass and completed 100% of his dribbles while also putting a shift off the ball with one tackle won and three recoveries made.

In terms of what that assist meant, Boniface has now scored seven goals and assisted five in 23 starts and a total of 26 appearances for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian Pro League this season.

What the result means

With the performance and win in the top-of-the-table clash, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise have now closed the gap between them and leaders, Genk, to five points.

Boniface and his modest side are second on the table with 62 points after 29 matches.

Up next for them, the Super Eagles prospect will look to continue with his excellent form in the Europa League round of 16 second-leg battle against Union Berlin on Thursday.
