Super Eagles target Fourth AFCON crown
For Super Eagles, the announcement provides clarity as they prepare for another shot at continental glory.
Nigeria, a three-time AFCON champion, will be aiming to secure a fourth title after finishing third in the previous edition. Under the guidance of head coach Eric Chelle, the team is expected to build on recent progress and strengthen its squad ahead of the tournament.
Before dreaming of lifting the trophy, Nigeria must first navigate the qualification process. The draw for the qualifiers is expected later this year, with the Super Eagles likely to be seeded among Africa’s top-ranked teams.
The qualification campaign group stage matches are scheduled across three international windows in late 2026: September 21–30, October 1–6, and November 9–17.
