An early goal from Aleksandr Golovin followed by two lovely strikes from Wissam Ben Yedder gave Monaco a deserved 3-1 victory over a much-changed PSG side who could only manage a consolation goal through Warren Zaire-Emery.

How it happened
A PSG side including four starters aged 20 or younger will have hoped for an early boost after being knocked out of the Coupe de France by bitter rivals Olympique de Marseille.
Instead, just four minutes in, Aleksandr Golovin gave his side the lead when the ball fell fortuitously to the midfielder in the box.

Things got even worse for Les Parisiens, as El Chadaille Bitshiabu was pickpocketed by Krepin Diatta, which allowed Wissam Ben Yedder to fire a pinpoint strike into the bottom corner.
Missing the injured Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, Neymar tried to pull the strings for the visitors but he was not at his fluid best and he struggled to make any real impact.
However, Juan Bernat then raced forward and squared the ball to give Warren Zaire-Emery a simple finish at the back post, renewing hope for Christophe Galtier’s side.
That was soon extinguished by Ben Yedder before the break however, as the striker saw off Bernat and coolly converted his 14th league goal of the season, making him Ligue 1’s joint-top scorer.
Monaco comfortably extended their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 to eight matches, lifting themselves to second in the table for now.
Meanwhile, PSG have lost two of their last three away league games, and their lead atop the table could be reduced to five points by the end of the weekend.
