Osimhen, who was instrumental in Napoli's 2022/23 Scudetto win, later experienced a turbulent period with the Italian club before eventually moving to Galatasaray.

He initially joined the Turkish giants on loan in September 2024, a deal that was made permanent in the summer of 2025.

In a widely circulated social media clip discussing Osimhen's career, Onazi, who previously played in Italy for Lazio, shared details of a private conversation he had with his compatriot.

Onazi reveals advice he gave Osimhen

Onazi recounted how Osimhen visited his home shortly after Napoli secured their first league championship in over three decades, a feat not seen since the era of Diego Maradona.

"When Victor won the Italian title, best player of Serie A and all that, he came to my house," Onazi stated.

"I told him, ‘You’ve achieved the highest at Napoli. Because of you, they won the title. Move, leave Napoli.’"

The former midfielder explained his reasoning, warning Osimhen that fan adoration can be fleeting in football. He cautioned that a single subpar season could quickly overshadow his monumental achievements.

"If things don’t go well the next season, they will behave like you never won anything for the club," Onazi added. "That’s how football is—fans forget your good deeds quickly."

Onazi's advice proved prescient as the relationship between Osimhen and Napoli quickly deteriorated, which later saw him move to Galatasaray.

The Nigerian international has since rediscovered his form in Turkey, netting an impressive 13 goals in 18 appearances for Galatasaray this season.
