The Super Eagles striker continues to receive glowing praise following another landmark moment in his prolific spell in Turkey.

Kapsal credits Osimhen for Galatasaray’s Champions League push

A Spor commentator Reha Kapsal believes Osimhen has transformed Galatasaray and is central to their Champions League ambitions. Heading into the final day of the league phase, the Lions sit 17th in the standings with 10 points from seven matches.

A win over Manchester City on Wednesday, January 28 would guarantee a playoff spot, while even a draw or defeat could still be enough depending on other results.

Despite failing to score in his last two Champions League outings, Osimhen was previously the competition’s leading scorer, netting six goals in his first three appearances, including a stunning hat-trick against Ajax.

"Osimhen has officially become the 'palace' of Galatasaray; he's the one who brought Galatasaray to this point. I haven't seen another player recently who single-handedly changed a team's environment so much," Kapsal said.

Super Lig form and milestone show Osimhen’s influence

Osimhen’s impact has also been decisive in the Turkish Super Lig, where he has scored seven goals in 13 appearances for the league leaders. Kapsal insists the Nigerian’s presence has been vital to both their domestic dominance and European progress.

"Osimhen is the player who primarily enabled Galatasaray to become the leader and continue its journey in the Champions League," he added.

The former African Footballer of the Year recently found the net in a 3-1 win over Fatih Karagümrük, rounding off the scoring.

That strike marked Osimhen’s 50th goal for Galatasaray in less than two seasons, with 37 of those coming during his debut campaign on loan from Napoli, further cementing his status as the club’s talisman.
