Barcelona eye another Man United star unfavoured by Amorim
Barcelona have reportedly been looking to exploit Kobbie Mainoo’s situation at Manchester United and are looking to tempt the England international to the Camp Nou.
The 20-year-old was one of the top-rated youngsters in the world, coming third in the Kopa Trophy ratings last year and earning a starting berth at the 2024 European Championships.
However, his status has taken a significant hit under Ruben Amorim. He has yet to start a single Premier League game this season and is at risk of missing the World Cup next year.
Barcelona's interest
Mainoo attempted to leave the club last summer in pursuit of more game time, after it became clear his profile is not favoured by Amorim. However, the club blocked the exit.
According to Defensa Central, Barcelona are apprised of the situation and are evaluating a possible move for the midfielder.
The Blaugrana have already snapped up one out-of-favour Manchester United star, Marcus Rashford, on a loan with an option to buy, and could repeat the trick with Mainoo.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are in the market for a new central midfielder with the qualities desired by Amorim. They made a move for Carlos Baleba last summer, and recently, they have been linked with Adam Wharton.
