Nigeria arrive at this stage boasting a 100% record and 12 goals scored. In contrast, Algeria have the best defence so far, letting in just one goal in their four matches.

The former Chelsea midfielder highlighted the disciplined and cohesive nature of the North Africans, insisting that the Super Eagles cannot afford any lapses in concentration.

"We have to make sure we approach the game the right way because it is going to be a tough game against Algeria," he said.

"Algeria is an excellent team; they play as a team. I’ve watched them a couple of times.

“They are very aggressive, and they’ve quality players, so the Super Eagles need to be on their A-game.”

This fixture carries significant emotional weight for Nigeria, serving as a direct rematch of the 2019 AFCON semi-final.

On that night in Cairo, a last-second Riyad Mahrez free-kick shattered Nigerian hearts, knocking the Super Eagles out in a 2-1 defeat.

While Nigeria eventually took home the bronze medal, the memory of that exit remains a scar that Eric Chelle’s men will be eager to heal with a victory in Marrakech.
