In a statement released on Tuesday, the Super Eagles confirmed that Adams was granted permission to leave due to a family health issue.

"Akor Adams has been granted permission to leave camp to go be with his mum, who was hospitalised yesterday," the official statement read. "We’re sending prayers and strength to him and wishing his mum a quick recovery."

It was reported earlier, before the game against Mozambique, that the mother of the Sevilla striker was hospitalised.

The forward has now been granted permission to visit his mother, after the win against Mozambique.

However, he has returned to the Super Eagles camp, with the report that his mum has been discharged from the hospital.

Following his return to camp, Adams will be in contention for the upcoming 2025 AFCON quarter-final match.

Nigeria will face Algeria in their next game on Saturday and they will be looking to claim a win and make it to the semi-final.
