AFCON 2025: Oliseh hails Super Eagles unsung hero Akor Adams as 'world class' after stunning display
Nigerian football legend, Sunday Oliseh, has declared Sevilla forward Akor Adams ‘world class,’ after drawing parallels to his own iconic shooting ability.
The praise came after Adams starred in Nigeria's commanding 4-0 rout of Mozambique in the AFCON 2025 round of 16, stealing the spotlight alongside big names like Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.
In a front three that overwhelmed Mozambique, the 25-year-old blended physical dominance with selfless play.
His stats painted a picture of pure productivity: one goal, two assists, 0.6 expected goals (xG), nine touches in the opposition box (joint-highest with Lookman), three key passes, three chances created, three dribbles, two tackles, and two big chances.
Adams' dominance unfolded chronologically. In the 20th minute, he shielded a defender after Alex Iwobi's through-ball, delivering a precise cut-back for Lookman's opener.
Five minutes later, he exploited the right flank with a low cross into the corridor of uncertainty, setting up Osimhen's tap-in for 2-0.

His reward arrived in the 75th minute: Lookman returned the favour with a reverse pass, and Adams steadied before thundering a strike into the roof of the net, for his first AFCON goal.
From the commentary box, AFCON winner with the Super Eagles Oliseh marvelled, "For a man who loves to shoot like myself, world class."
The performance carried deep emotion. Post-match, Adams revealed his mother had been hospitalised in Fez that morning.
"This goal is dedicated to my mum. She was supposed to be here, but she's in the hospital right now. Glory to God for this moment," he told journalists, still in his kit.
Adams has silenced debates over Osimhen's striking partner. His wall-like presence has evolved Nigeria into a ball-dominant force, with three goals and two assists in eight caps marking him as the squad's most efficient forward.
