Nigeria vs Mozambique: My mum was rushed to the hospital — Super Eagles striker reveals after 4-0 win
Super Eagles striker Akor Adams dedicated his goal against Mozambique to his mother, who he revealed had a medical emergency on the morning of the clash against Mozambique.
The 25-year-old Sevilla forward scored Nigeria’s fourth goal in the 4-0 romp over Mozambique, which helped the Super Eagles reach the quarter-finals of AFCON 2025.
What Akor Adams said
Adams had a lively performance, registering two assists before getting on the scoresheet himself. He spoke to reporters after the match, when he shared the unfortunate news about his mother’s health condition.
“The goal is dedicated to my mum; she was rushed to the hospital this morning,” Adams said, per Mike the Pundit.
Adams’ parents are from Benue State, and he rose through the ranks at the Jamba Football Academy in the state. Around May last year, pictures of his parents at the Sanchez Pizjuan to watch him play made the rounds on social media. Also, his folks have been to Morocco to watch his AFCON journey with the Super Eagles.

The argument was triggered by a frustrated Osimhen, who berated his teammates for failing to play him through on goal when the team had a 3-0 lead and instead attempting shots of their own. Asked about the incident, Lookman played it down
