AFCON 2025: Nwabali, Lookman, Osimhen missing in Super Eagles' possible line-up against Uganda
Nigeria face Uganda in their final AFCON Group C match at Fez Stadium on Tuesday, with the Super Eagles already booking a spot in the last 16.
Going into the encounter, Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle may rotate his squad with qualification already secured.
The Super Eagles have already secured top spot in the group after winning their opening two matches, giving them six points and an unassailable three-point lead.
Nigeria’s campaign so far has been defined by attacking flair tempered with defensive vulnerability. Their dramatic 3–2 win over Tunisia last time out encapsulated that contrast perfectly.
Goals from Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, and Ademola Lookman gave Eric Chelle’s men a commanding three-goal cushion, but late strikes from Monastir Talbi and Ali Al-Abdi nearly completed a remarkable comeback for Tunisia.
The result means Nigeria has now both scored and conceded in seven of their last eight matches, including the 2–1 victory over Tanzania in their group opener.
Super Eagles Possible line-up
Eric Chelle could hand opportunities to squad players such as Chidera Ejuke, Moses Simon, and Paul Onuachu, though key figures like Osimhen, Ndidi, and Lookman might be rested for the clash.
Lookman, in particular, has scored in both group matches so far.
In goal, Uzoho might get his first stat for the Super Eagles since 2024 as Nwabali might be rested.
Onyemaechi, Bassey, Ajayi, and Osayi will hold the defence while Onyedika might partner Onyeka and Iwobi in the midfield.
The attack might be spearheaded by Adams alongside Simon and Chukwueze.
