Osimhen eyes AFCON trophy
Osimhen as claimed that he his not looking forward to winning the AFCON top scorer but will love to help the team win the trophy.
During an exclusive interview with Pulse Sports, he was asked if one goal in the last AFCON play was in his mind, if it put more pressure and if he felt the need to be the top scorer in this competition.
The striker replied, “To be honest, i don’t care about being the top scorer. For me, I am a striker, i want to get many goals as i can as well as many assists as i can and also my teammates give me the opportunity to score.
“I also have to hustle for them to try to help them. But I think, last AFCON, I got one goal and the people only see that I got one goal, but I think I am one of the people who work the most in the squad, no disrespect to my teammates.
“I also fell sick in the process where i did not travel with the squad to play against South Africa. So for me, i don’t really care about being the highest goalscorer or having zero goal in the AFCON, so for me the success of the team is paramount so when the team wins and wins the trophy i am also involved.
“If i try to get the personal glory, it is not enough for me so for my team it is not what is paramount for me.”
The team will kickstart their campaign against Tanzania on Tuesday and Osimhen will be looking to help the team claim a win.
