Report: Arsenal set deadline to complete Benjamin Sesko transfer

Arsenal are reportedly facing a £20 million valuation gap with RB Leipzig for top target Benjamin Sesko.

Arsenal have reportedly set themselves a deadline to finalise a deal for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who is their primary target for the No. 9 role.

Reports indicate a significant £20 million gap in valuation between the two clubs, as Leipzig are steadfast on their £80 million asking price for the Slovenian centre-forward, despite Sesko's desire for a move to England.

Arsenal, however, are said to be unwilling to exceed £60 million for the 22-year-old, who signed a new contract with Leipzig last summer until 2029.

Arsenal set Sesko deadline

While talks are ongoing, and Arsenal's sporting director Andrea Berta remains optimistic about progress, the club are prepared to pursue alternative targets if negotiations do not advance soon.

TEAMtalk reports that the Premier League runners-up have set a deadline of mid-July to conclude the move before seeking alternatives.

Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting is considered a backup option, despite recent reports suggesting the Gunners had secured his signature.

Although Gyokeres boasts a superior goalscoring record, Sesko's potential due to his age and imposing 6ft 5in frame, drawing comparisons to Erling Haaland, TEAMtalk claims that the Leipzig player’s physicality makes him Arsenal's preferred choice.

What’s next for Arsenal?

Arsenal, who face Manchester United in gameweek one of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, hope to finalise more incomings by the start of pre-season this month.
