Xabi Alonso has reportedly "warned internally" against selling a key Real Madrid player.

Xabi Alonso has reportedly informed Real Madrid 's hierarchy of his desire to keep Rodrygo at the club, despite ongoing interest from Premier League side Arsenal

The Brazilian forward, considered one of the world's best in his position, has achieved significant success since joining Madrid in 2019, securing three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies.

Despite earlier speculation suggesting Rodrygo's frustration over his playing role under previous manager Carlo Ancelotti, particularly following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe and the presence of Vinicius Junior, the situation has now reportedly changed.

Rpdrygo commits to Real Madrid stay

According to UOL, Rodrygo has decided to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu after engaging in positive discussions with Alonso.

The report suggests that Alonso "warned internally" that he is counting on the young forward and therefore opposes any transfer this summer.

Earlier concerns revolved around Rodrygo's desire to feel more important within the squad, especially after taking a perceived backseat since the arrivals of Jude Bellingham in 2023 and Mbappe in 2024.

He also reportedly felt more comfortable playing on the left wing, a position often occupied by Vinicius Jr; however, it appears talks with Alonso have addressed these concerns, leading to Rodrygo's renewed commitment.

What’s next for Real Madrid?

New boss Alonso takes his Real Madrid side to the Club World Cup, and they will begin their campaign on June 18 against Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, followed by matches against Pachuca and RB Salzburg.
